Who We Are
Theaterra Production Society’s core team is located in Vancouver on the west coast of Canada. These lands we inhabit were appropriated by European Settlers and are the ancestral and unsurrendered territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, whose communities have lived here for thousands of years. We honour the ancestry of these lands, understand it’s our responsibility to learn about Indigenous cultures here and across Canada, and pay our respect to the original peoples and stories of this territory we call home. We’re grateful to be here.

Our Origin Story
In the bustling spring of 2024, a group of visionary artists, educators, environmental activists, and business-savvy women started to gather together, each carrying with them years of experience and passion from their time with DreamRider Productions, a pioneering company renowned for blending theatre with environmental education. As they sipped their steaming mugs of fair-trade coffee and tasty oat milk matcha, a collective dream began to rise – a dream that would soon become Theaterra.
Theaterra—aptly named Theatre for the Planet—was conceived with a profound commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and accessibility. Inspired by their shared experiences at DreamRider Productions where they had witnessed firsthand the transformative power of theatre in educating communities about environmental stewardship, they were determined to continue this legacy in a new, innovative way.
The core creators of Theaterra recognized that the world was at a critical juncture. Climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequalities were pressing issues that demanded urgent attention. They saw theatre not just as a form of entertainment, but as a potent tool for inspiring change. Their ambitious goal was to create original content that not only entertained but also educated audiences about sustainability practices, encouraged inclusivity through diverse representation on stage, and ensured accessibility to allow actors and creators of all abilities to participate in the work.
With these principles deeply embedded in the foundation of the company and its mission, Theaterra officially launched its journey on April 30, 2024. They were gifted some of the old sets, props, and costumes from DreamRider and, aligning with their values as an environmentally conscious company, they committed to build their new productions using reclaimed materials. With all the elements lining up, the team began brainstorming their inaugural season.
